Selwood plant specialists have completed the sale of two versatile telehandlers to a customer who sought advice on solutions for operating in spaces where cranes are restricted. Tom Mayhew asked for advice from Selwood sales manager John Knight as he sought to invest in equipment for his Hampshire-based business. After looking in detail at Mr Mayhew’s requirements, John, based at Selwood’s headquarters at Chandlers Ford, recommended two Merlo Roto 40.30 telehandlers (like the one pictured) which are ideally suited for working in areas where space is limited.

Leading plant specialist Selwood has helped a community drive to rebuild a sports club that was destroyed by fire. Staff from Selwood’s Bristol branch decided to help after hearing about the plight of Kingsweston Sports and Social Club, which was burned to the ground by arsonists eight years ago. The blaze eight years ago had left both Lawrence Weston Football Club and Sea Mills Football Club – plus five youth teams – without a home and teams were having to use a temporary club house and changing rooms.

The company has achieved verified supplier certification for the Chemicals and Allied Industries Community, awarded by risk management services supplier Achilles. The certification applies to Selwood’s range of pumps, accessories, component and installation services across its entire network of UK branches, to the pumps in manufactures and to its plant hire offering.

The company supported a charity event at Chepstow Racecourse that was organised by Welsh Water, a long-standing customer of Selwood. Selwood donated £1,000 to the event – bringing the total raised for WaterAid to more than £12,220.

Hampshire-based civil engineering contractor Oliver & Brown has invested in its continuing growth with a £150,000 purchase of construction equipment from Selwood’s plant hire and sales team. Oliver & Brown, which has been established by the Oliver family for 30 years and has a long-standing relationship with plant hire experts at Selwood’s head office in Chandler’s Ford, has bought a Hyundai HX140 tracked excavator, two Thwaites six-tonne front tip dumpers and two Hamm HD12vv double drum rollers.
