Selwood’s dedicated delivery teams are used to fitting in with customers’ busy schedules, but a recent order in Devon required a little extra timing precision.
The customer asked Selwood’s plant teams to deliver a 5ft excavator and two dumpers for use in building a luxury property on the Exe Estuary at Topsham.
There was one problem – the Exe is tidal, and the site was only accessible by HGV when the tide was out.
With two delivery runs to make, the team from Selwood’s Exeter plant hire branch had to get their thinking caps on. Through careful examination of the tide times and working closely with the customer, the teams agreed a tight delivery window to ensure the equipment could be safely delivered.
Lee Martin, sales representative at Exeter, made sure he was on site to see the vehicles delivered safely without anyone getting their feet wet!
Lee said: “This is one of the more unusual deliveries we’ve had to carry out, but despite the potential issues we made sure the operation was timed to perfection. This is a long-term project and the equipment required has changed from time to time – thankfully the Exeter team have got the timing down to a fine art so we can continue to provide exceptional service for our customer as and when they need us.”
