The young stars of an Under-12s football team sponsored by Selwood kicked off their summer with a spectacular win.

Proudly wearing blue kit sponsored by Selwood, the Dorset-based Parley U12s stormed to victory in the Warminster Highbury six-a-side tournament, the first in a series of summer events they are competing in this year.

The boys didn’t miss a beat throughout the competition, beating all their rivals on their way to a showdown with Trowbridge in the final.

With their first trophy under their belts, the boys are now hoping for similar success in other local summer tournaments including Rossgarth in Verwood, Bransgore, Sturminster Marshall, Sarisbury Sparks and Parley’s own summer games at Parley Country Club over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The team will also head into 11-a-side territory in the new football season, with an eye on success in the Bournemouth Youth Football League.

James Peacock, sales representative at Selwood’s Bournemouth plant hire branch, said: “At Selwood we’re delighted to support local groups and we’re really glad to see the Parley U12s doing so well. We wish them luck as they continue to do us proud.”
