Selwood’s high-performance S150M, one of the newest additions to the company’s market-leading pump range, demonstrated its efficiency and versatility when it was used by Ian Dickie & Co (Johannesburg) for a heavy duty application in South Africa.
Ian Dickie & Co, a leading South African manufacturer and distributor of construction and municipal equipment, needed a fast and reliable pumping solution for a client in the Sasolburg region of the Free State with a requirement to pump a large quantity of recycled water.
The job called for the water to be pumped back to a nearby plant, because existing spindle pumps on a barge were down for repairs.
Heavy rainfall added to the scale of the problem.
The S150M’s efficient water transfer abilities made it the ideal choice for Ian Dickie & Co, whose engineers installed 18 metres of 8” suction hose with about 3.5m lift on the suction side, discharging the recycled water through 400m of 6” delivery pipe over a small hill.
The S150M features Selwood’s trademark reliability and proven Selprime automatic self-priming technology and is capable of flow rates of up to 720m3/h and total heads of 70 metres with solids handlings of 76mm.
It has excellent suction performance (NPSHr) and a best efficiency point of 68% at 200rpm (437 m3/h at 51m head), as well as class-leading fuel consumption from the latest CAT C4.4 diesel engine. Internal wear parts are supplied in stainless steel 316 as standard, providing superb abrasion and corrosion resistance.
Selwood launched the S150M as a key addition to its solids handling pump range, after listening to demand from customers and distributors for a versatile medium head pump.
It is suited to multiple uses including sewage and sewer bypass and over pumping, water and wastewater applications, long distance water transfer and dewatering for sites and quarries.
The S150M is offered through Selwood’s global network of distributors and, like all Selwood products, its high quality is a result of decades of manufacturing experience. Its suitability to the rental market is a given, thanks to Selwood’s position as the UK’s number one pump rental solutions provider.
