The Selwood Team at Pump Centre Conference

Environmentally-friendly pump technology was the star of the show as Selwood specialists showcased new models at two leading European exhibitions.

Significant interest has been seen in two new solids handling pumps – the S150 Electric and the S160Eco – at Pump Centre Conference and the world-leading trade fair IFAT. Both pumps have been designed and manufactured by Selwood at its UK headquarters in response to increasing market demand for environmentally-friendly pumps with minimal to zero emissions.

Selwood specialists headed to the Pump Centre Conference in Telford, UK, as they joined industry leaders from across the water and wastewater sector. More than 90 suppliers from the sector joined the industry’s leading engineers at the event, which focused on the resilience of pumps, including innovative and intelligent design.

The Selwood team enjoyed showcasing the new S160Eco, which delivers increased performance and near-silent operation from an environmentally-friendly engine. The S160Eco, housed in Selwood’s renowned Super Silent canopies, is the quietest pump on the market as tested against EU directive 2000/14/EC and is designed to meet stringent EU Stage IIIB emissions regulations. Driven by an Isuzu diesel engine, the six-inch S160Eco is offered as an upgrade over Selwood’s current S150 model, offering a 28.5% increase in pressure, resulting in an extra 5m head.

This May the team also headed to Munich, Germany, for IFAT, a renowned trade show for environmental technologies and an innovation platform for companies across the water, sewage, waste and raw materials management industry.

On display was the Selwood S150 Electric, which was introduced last year and is now leading the way as a benchmark for environmentally-friendly pumping solutions across Europe. A modified Selwood S150 pump, it features a highly-efficient and environmentally-friendly 30KW IE3 electric motor. The electric drive Selwood S150 Super Silent is capable of the same superb performance as Selwood’s 1800rpm diesel-powered model, providing 100mm solids handling, 310m3/h capacity and 27m total head.

Mark Bebbington, Selwood’s Technical Solutions Director, who attended Pump Centre, said: “Pump Centre is always a highlight of the year for the Selwood team and it was a privilege to attend again this year and meet so many customers, old and new. The S160Eco was certainly a talking-point for visitors and we were very pleased by the level of interest in this new model.”

Paul Marlow, Sales and International Rental Development Director, said: “Both exhibitions are important events for Selwood’s pump rental and sales teams and we’re delighted this year was another resounding success. Exhibitions are always an excellent platform for greeting our distributors, strengthening relationships and building new ones.

“Environmentally-compliant pumps are in more demand than ever before and we’re pleased Selwood is at the forefront of this technological revolution. We were particularly pleased with the number of enquiries we had and we look forward to showcasing the outstanding capabilities of our pumps at future events.”
