At Selwood, we love a challenge – and we’ve set ourselves an ambitious one to mark our 75th anniversary this year.

Our exceptional people in pump solutions and plant hire branches around the UK will be pulling together with the aim of raising £75,000 for charity through a range of events and activities.

When Selwood was founded in 1946, Britain was rebuilding itself in the aftermath of the Second World War. Now, in 2021, the country is facing the challenge of recovering from the social and economic impacts of the pandemic.

A huge number of charities, many of them small and locally focused, will play their part in this. Many of them are struggling with increased demand for their services combined with a significant decrease in income.

Our 75 for 75 campaign is designed to make a difference to those causes. Every branch and department in the Selwood network will have a cause close to their hearts that they would like to support.

The money we raise will be collected throughout the campaign and then distributed among charities chosen by our branches – one good cause per branch.

Our people will be walking, running, cycling, baking and doing whatever it takes to help us reach our target. Every single penny raised will be tracked on our fundraising page.

We’ll be updating you with news as we go. To get us started, here are just some of the activities we have planned.

  • Neil Jack, James Sinnock, Liam Harrison and Joshua Taylor, all members of our pump rental team, are planning a 150mile walk in three countries over three weekends! They’ll be taking in the West Highland Way, Brecon Beacons and South Downs in their challenge.
  • Team members in our Saltash branch have picked Cornwall Air Ambulance as their chosen charity – watch this space for details of how they will reach for the skies with their fundraising.
  • Our engineering teams are teeing up plans for a series of golfing challenges.
  • Staff in our head office at Chandler’s Ford are cooking up a Bake Off-style challenge to take place when more of our teams are back in the office.

We know our £75,000 target is ambitious but we believe our dedicated team has what it takes to it – with a lot of support along the way. Wish us luck!
