Selwood offers a diverse range of career development opportunities – investing in employees to ensure that they progress to their full potential – including various apprentice schemes.
Jake Beach joined Selwood in August 2012 - aged 16 - as a Research & Development Technician Apprentice and qualified in September 2016.
In his first six months, Jake attended Southampton Engineering Training Association, full time, to complete an NVQ – Level 3 in milling and turning. On his return to Selwood, Jake started work in the Research & Development department – building prototypes of new pumps, testing, recording results and making changes and amendments as necessary.
Upon completing his apprenticeship, Jake said: “I love everything about the job here, it’s so varied. I get involved in everything from general fitting, building and assembling to machining and welding. I am grateful to Selwood for this apprenticeship opportunity which has allowed me to embark on a career in R&D.”
Jake is now attending Solent University in Southampton, taking an HNC in Engineering, one day a week.
Selwood has also appointed a new apprentice, Luke Jeffrey, who will be working alongside Jake and his colleagues.
At Selwood we are always looking for talented people to join our teams across the UK. Take a look at our Careers pages to see what positions we’re currently looking to fill.
